About Au pair in Germany

Salary-According to the official Au Pair program in Germany, the monthly wage is set at 280 euros. The Au Pair's language training will cost the Host Family an additional 840 euros annually (12x70 euros). Families have the option of paying the Au Pair either in monthly installments (70 euros per month for the duration of the program) or everything at once. In some circumstances, this will cover the entire expense, while in others, the Au Pair will be responsible for the remaining balance. 

Working Hours---Au Pairs in Germany work a maximum of 6 hours per day for a total of 30 hours per week (including babysitting). The Bundesagentur für Arbeit (German Employment Agency) recommends that au pairs have at least four evenings and one and a half full days of leisure time.

Holidays and vacation time

In Germany, au pairs will have four evenings and at least one and a half free days per week. Also required is at least one free Sunday every month. German law stipulates that au pairs must take four weeks off during their one-year stay. In the event of a shorter stay, they will have two days in a calendar month.

Language Education

Au Pairs in Germany have the opportunity to enroll in a language course to develop their language abilities. 70 euros are paid by host families as course costs. Sometimes the fees can be covered by 70 euros, while other times the Au Pair is required to bear the remaining expenditures. The host family cover the expense of travel to and from the language school.
